What's the latest thoughts on specific tyres for the 20" BBS wheels? Need to buy 2 fronts and whilst running Pirelli's previously (and on the rears) it seems the Pirelli's, Dunlop Sport and Toyo seem to be around the £220-£260 mark per tyre.

Tempted to go with the original Pirelli's again as I have those on the rear but open to suggestions.

Regards,
Graham

I don't have much to compare with, as the previous owner had put cheap & nasty Maxxis tyres on, which despite having plenty of tread (5mm+), just had no grip, on a wet road, they would lock up on braking and drift wide on corners, they were terrifying, but the Dunlop SP Maxx I have on now are very good, fairly quiet, seem very grippy, never broken traction with them, don't know about wear yet.

As a left-field choice, I have a set of Kumho KU31 on another car, and for what it's worth, they've proved better than the P6000's and Falken FK452's previously fitted to it (225bhp Saab 9-3), and being around £120 front/£160 rear, they're temptingly cheaper!

I recently fitted PZeros (Jag sec) to the rears again. Only comment I had from the dealers and tyres fitters was the Dunlop Jag spec tyres are softer and don't quite last as long. All the dealers would pick the PZero over the Dunlop just for the better wet weather performance.

cheers

Speaking as an indy I would choose dunlops everytime, the pirellis tramline and a lot noisier. Having fitted Sentas with dunlops on many MK1 XKs, they just run a lot better.

But if you want more grip and better performance go for Toyos, they are more sticky just don't last as long

I'm interested in the outcome of this as I'll need new fronts soon too.

It seems that the Pirelli P ZERO Direzionale in 255X35R20 don't seem to be available - or at least a very long leadtime. Pirelli PZero's are but not the Direzionale version. Assume if I go with Pirrelli's it's okay to put standard Pzero's on assuming both fronts are swapped?
