Well it all seems very civilised around here :-)

Got myself an XJS 4.0 last week so will be popping in and out of this forum. Found some useful things here whilst looking for the car (pic in profile) so hope to give something back one day. Very very happy with her so far!

Congratulations on your purchase. It looks to be a fine car. I hope it continues to amuse you and you have years of happy wafting in it!

Wafting is the word ... I've never known a more lazy car but when pushed it does the big lepton thing :-)

Expenses so far (apart from fuel and very reasonable insuance) have been a headlamp bulb and a couple of smilies

Oh - headlamp bulb! Now they are bcensoreders to fit. I had one go on my way to a dinner so I popped into Halfords for the bulb and decided to do it there in the carpark. I felt like James Herriot with his arm up the rear end of a cow. Had the book in one hand to see the pictures and then had to do the rest with the other which was shoved up inside the front wing. All easy by the pictures but when doing it blind as you cannot see what you are doing.

You will find lots of "simple" tasks are quite fiddly on these cars.

Agree with you on the bulb change - what a bizarre experience! Particularly happy when I dropped the clip inside the housing

The 4 headlight conversion makes the bulb change a doddle. You can see better at night, too...

That's one of those occasions i would have given the Halfords clown a fiver to fit it.

Hindsight is wonderful, but at the time there was no way I was parting with a fiver for puttin gin a lightbulb. I mean, what if a PistonHead saw me? eek
