My friend has one of these, we were out in it earlier, 'Restricted Performance' and engine management light comes on and the car kinda stutters then runs fine, apparently its a common occurrence.
It has been on diagnostic and comes up as Knock Sensor 2.......does this sound right (i only know Alfas) is it easy to change ???

Thanks.

'Knock sensor' - wild guess - ignition timing, dodgy fuel?

A girl with an S-Type who works at Asda?

I don't think I've ever seen a female driving an S-Type!

Well when i say 'driving' i use the word in it's loosest sense, never seen anyone drive with none of their back touching the seat and both hands on the wheel between 12 and 3...LOL

Split vac elbow at the back of the plenium. Listen to the engine and check for vac leaks when running.

Ah yes, the 'frightened bunny' position. Usually the left hand is at 9 and the right hand at 11/12... thus keeping the left hand close to the gear-lever so they can change into third to pull away wink

If its been diaged as a faulty knock sensor, its either a faulty knock sensor or the wire to the knock sensor is damaged.

There are 2 knock sensors, No2 is the rear most one.

There are a number of things including vac leaks and other failed sensors or actuators that can cause the fault you describe, but if the car logged a code, you must check that area first or your just wasting your time.
