Is this something more than the standard R with the recent packs?

There are a couple of things that interest me about the car from the point of view of the possibility of the parts becoming available for fitment to an existing XKR. The louder exhaust for one. And IMO the front looks a lot better just because the front lower side air intake surrounds are in body colour, rather than chrome.

In the Autocar magazine they put it against the AM V8V.
They feel it trounces it - comprehensively. Love to bring it to the attention of the AM PH Forum, but not worth the abuse.
Interesting they compare it to a Porsche GT3 also
Actually I would like to see how it compares to the DB9 or DBS the figures are ahead of the DBS I think. Clearly Tata have taken off the old shakles it was implied Ford applied as not to overshadow AM.
If the car is that good, why only build 75, I suppose they can charge full price. Makes me wonder what is to come next.

I cannot remember how long ago but Top Gear did a review of the 5.0S/C XKR vs the DBS and they felt the XKR was better. They even went so far as to say it was probably the best GT car in the world right now.
My own experience would agree, the only problem some may have is when the XKR is parked next to the Aston, it does not look as homogenous. When viewed on it's own it is stunning though.

that sounded utterly awesome!
I've been looking for a clip of this car from goodwood for ages on youtube to no avail.
so thanks for posting that.
The standard car is mighty impressive. This version is a total weapon.
Does anyone know if they will be available in any other colours than that grey?

That's very disappointing about the colour.
It's not a bad grey as far as grey goes but it should have had a very dark metallic green to hark back to their racing heritage.
Botanical green would have done me and would have looked amazing.
Suddenly a 2nd hand (pre-depreciated) regular 5.0 XKR for £30k less is looking a lot more attractive.
I know everyone in the press is saying it's a steal at £85k, which is fine for them to say as they'll never buy one, but for that money the car would have to be near perfect in every way. In grey it just falls short of the mark for me.

Almost perfect I would say. I still don't think that it has Recaro-type seats.
I would be happy to pay £85k for a Jag like that but I would want proper racing seats and my choice of colours. Going the right way though. You couild get a standard XKR to that kind of output quite easily, but I doubt if you could necessarily get it to Mike Cross's chassis set up, which is apparently fantastic (see latest Top Gear magazine).

Yes, this car has bespoke made suspension parts. EVO gives a great write up. Says unfortunately the Recaro seats from the lime green prototype didn't make it to production.
The XKR-S cars seem to be retaining their prices better than the regular coupes, maybe one of these 20 cars will shrug of the depreciation..... Yeah right!

Mine has had some modifications done to it to improve on its output, Modified S/C pulley, Sports cats, sports exhausts and ECU re-map, according to the dyno meter read out it now produces 594.1 HP I think thats a bit more than the 75, would be interesting to drive a standard one to see what the difference is like. Would love to try the 75 looks lovelyThe cars will depreciate, of course they will, that's not the point. You will have a collector's item, and a delightful and rare car. Just not a particularly valuable one at least over the first ten years.
What you can expect, not only from Jaguar but from every manufacturer these days, is a succession of special models, each one just that bit more special than the one before. Is it special enough for you, that is the question? This wil go on until the model is withdrawn, at which point we will get another limited edition. Personally I will wait until the car has Recaro seats, then I would be happy whatever they come out with afterwards.
