Hi,
iam going to opt for Pirelli tyres on the front of my XJR.
255 40 18's.
The Jaguar dealership are telling me the recommendation is for the Assimetrico and my Indy is telling me the PZero is perfectly suitable.
Any thoughts on this anyone ??
I have a XKR but wouldn't touch Pirelli tyresiam going to opt for Pirelli tyres on the front of my XJR.

Had to change my underwere to often with them
I use Toyo Proxis T1-R's
I did ask you about your tyres Norman and have considered the Toyo Proxy TR-1.
People are telling me that the XJR is very critical when it comes to it's tyres, what do you think ?
having said that about the critical on its setup, I have probably altered things a little any way by putting poly bushes on it......
in the past I have been bitten I have an Audi A4 cab and put Avons on the front instead of the Pirellis and the ride was not that great.

As I said I haven't tried them on an XJ but I was told the same thing when enquiring about Toyo's on the XK
Tyres won't take the weight, the Pirelli tyres were designed for the Jag, big mistake etc.
But the tyre weight/speed ratings were correct so thought I would give them a go, just pleased I did
My understanding from when I investigated this for my XK, not sure if it's the same for the XJ was that the Asimmetrico was designed for the rear and the Direzionale was designed for the fronts. The two should be used together. According to the blurb I found the Direzionale maximises water expulsion, leaving a drier contact patch for the rear Asimmetrico.
Not sure it matters that you stick with Pirelli but if you do go for the Pirelli assimetrico I think you need to have direzionale's on the front to see any benefit.

The XK has larger tyres on the rear and as you say Pirelli recommend different patternsNot sure it matters that you stick with Pirelli but if you do go for the Pirelli assimetrico I think you need to have direzionale's on the front to see any benefit.
The XJ have the same size front and rear and the same pattern
The official response would be 'We havent tested it so we can't recommend it.'
I too have been caught in the Pirelli trap, with tyres wearing out at different rates so you feel obliged to keep going with what you have 'just in case'. However I've just taken the plunge and put four new Falkens on my S-Type!
