XF 3.0 D Fuel Consumption-What do you get?
Discussion
I have been thinking about changing to an XF Diesel for a while.I took one out for a day on a regular mixed run (One that I get 38mpg out of my Audi 3.0D) and I could only achieve around 32mpg -way short of the 42mpg climed by Jaguar. Whilst i appreciate driving styles vary I would be interested to know what consumption anyone is getting in the real world!!
You will find the tighter the motor, or the fewer miles it has done the poorer the fuel consumption. We have a few clients who have experienced much better mpg after moderate mileages whn components have loosened up. XF or S,
An ecu programm upgrade ( via autologic) will also give an extra 3/5 mpg on the v6

I ran a Diesel S for 8500 miles and the overall average was an indicated (i.e. on trip computer) of 32 mpg. I did enjoy the performance though and spent the last 4000 miles or so with Dynamic mode pressed all the time! Also I only drive about 10 miles to work and it was over the winter so the car never really warmed up. It was much happier on a run, a week into ownership I did a steady 70mph run (it was foggy and was following my wife...) and it indicated 40mpg over the 150 mile journey.
What people forget about "manufacturer-claimed mpg" is that it just shows how the car performs when subjected to the VCA official cycle. It's not the manufacturer's fault if the VCA cycle doesn't represent real life!
Marvellous car though....and well-recommended
