Can anyone confirm if this is a wear and tear item on a car less than 2 years old with 27k miles or should it be warranty. I appreciate pads are wear and tear and under hard use discs may be.

I agree they shouldn't wear out in 2years and 27k but I think you will be hard pushed to get them changed under warranty
Maybe some one left the handbrake on at some time, if the FlyOff as in the XKR easilly done

Some time ago we had a MB the rear tyres were gone in no time, turned out the rear toe in/out was out
MB would not pay out as we could have hit a kirb (we hadn't) must have been like it from new

If the handbrake is left on you get an audible warning even if it is just one click...Sounds more like there was an issue and even though the handbrake was released the shoes remained on.....Dread to think what effect this had on your fuel consumption, I might be inclined to argue the fact a little!

If the XF is anything to go by,10K is about right for discs and pads.Jaguar have pretty durable on brakes over the years but not anymore.
