Jaguar XFR Stratstone Le Mans Edition
Discussion
I understand that people can be cynical about dealer promoted special editions, or those promoted by Porsche Cars GB Limited or Porsche themselves for that matter, however, if you haven't seen this take a look.
50 off, 25 black, 25 white. I saw a white one at the weekend, and it is genuinely stunning, with colour coded radiator grill surround, bespoke bonnet grilles, bespoke carbon fibre veneers with depth and quality, embossed head rests, black wheels, body kit, sports exhaust.
The best looking XF yet by a mile.

There's only 50 of them, so it doesn't look like it to me. Sorry no pics yet - I haven't mastered Photobucket and Tinypic doesn't work for me any more. But trust me they look tasty. The XF was made for colour coding, and the carbon fibre trim is beautiful (and normally I'm a burr walnut man).
The white car that initially pops up is a S Diesel - at least it seems to be as the car has no bonnet louvres and on the back it has the S badge!
The black car that comes up if you click through below the white car is an R although I really think it looks bloody awful. Not sure why but the body kit and wheels just look out of place.
Standard XFR in Ultimate Black please with black interior please.

Thanks for finding that, but I think that the car illustrated is a 'kitted XF-S not an XFR. The Le Mans XFR has a different front end treatment, slightly different interior with dark mesh and a rich carbon fibre 'veneer' (which is lovely in the flesh), different alloys and of course an R badge not an S.
The bespoke bonnet louvres referred to are a totally different and very stylish version of the XFR 'Supercharged' bonnet ventilator, not a louvred bonnet in the manner of a Vicarage Mk.II.
I really fancy one of these I can tell you, and the trip to Le Mans is just the icing on the cake.

I cant believe people are actually buying these cars, if I took one back in part exchange, I would have to slash its value in order to try and bring it back to factory specification.
Actually, Jaguar do NOT offer a carbon fibre veneer kit as an option in the XF. This is an effect which is produced very cheaply by garnishing the standard veneer in a film with the carbon fibre pattern in ink applied to it. They then apply a liquid, disolving the film and leaving the ink behind. Cost for the masking 9 pieces of veneer in the car? About £200. The standard silver 20" Nevis alloy wheels have been professionally blasted, repainted and re-laquered. Again, the actual cost is no more than £50 per wheel.
Is this a "Special Edition"? No, it's a cheap imitation to try and shift some of stratstones old stock. Do yourself a favour... Hold out for the XFR100 Limited Edition

Ok, Taunton Jaguar, you reeled me in. What's an XFR100 and what's different about it? Thanks
From memory, its a limited edition which includes Jet suede headlining, charcoal interior with ivory contrast stitch, piano black veneer, Bowers & Wilkins stereo, black pack (gloss black window surrounds etc) and black Draco 20" alloys with a polished lip. Priced at £65,500. Only available in Polaris White, Stratus Grey and Ultimate Black.
Im at home at the moment so dont have the bulletin to hand unfortunately but that im pretty sure thats most of it.
It basically works out at about £1,100 more than the standard XFR so good value for money as the Bowers & Wilkins alone would cost more.
(oh and Taunton Jag is absolutely right with his views on the Le Mans..... I had also heard that they got a lot of grief for the name from the owners of the Le Mans circuit but not sure how true that was but came from a source within Jaguar....)

Thanks, Ashley. Thought (or hoped) it might be a quicker one - a bit like the the XKR75.
Unfortunately not, but how much faster would you want it to be?! I recently did a day at the Gaydon track and managed to get 164mph out of one down the main straight. And no that wasn't a speedo read out it was proper data logging equipment. It is an amazing machine.Likewise a speed packed XKR vs 911 Carrera S with the PDK gearbox was an eye opener. The 911 was quicker to 60 but the XKR beat it to 100 and just continued pulling ahead up to its 174mph limiter when we ran out of track.
The XKR 75 was a special bit of kit though, was lucky enough to have a quick blast in the one that I sold. They should all have that lighter exhaust system - what a noise!

OK, noted. While I am sure that you are right, and that this is in no way an 'official' Jaguar limited edition, I would still maintain that it is a very good looking car. The carbon fibre 'effect' or whatever it is, however it is achieved, looks superb, rich and deep - much better actually than the carbon in the run out XK8 model. The wheels are impressive, and unlike the gloss black Kalimnos numbers fitted to the XKR Speed/Black, the rims are left silver, like Porsche do. There is a sports exhaust - never a bad thing imho - there is the badging on the dash and seats, there is the colour coding everywhere else. And hospitality at Le Mans. All for the same price as a 'standard' XFR.Is this a "Special Edition"? No, it's a cheap imitation to try and shift some of stratstones old stock. Do yourself a favour... Hold out for the XFR100 Limited Edition
It's really not bad. There may well be an XFR100 on the way, and an XFR400 after that, and an XFR Silverstone and an XFRS. It just goes on and on - but this is still a nice car.

So who is going to buy a Speed Pack XKR knowing that it is inferior to the XKR75, which was only another 10k, and it is a matter of time before another edition with the proper equipment comes out?The thing is Jag prices are how Ford was 2 years ago, massive massive discounts and poor poor residuals so it just all goes out the window when comparing models.
How much off a new factory build XKR is on offer I wonder .....
Edit I have decided to get an XKR convertible as its amazing value for money, however Im struggling to spec it (see next thread)
