Am contemplating buying a 1990's Jag XJ6. I'd prefer one that has an LPG system for minimising fuel costs. What percentage of extra do you think one is worth with a working system fitted?
Although giving you a saving it will put a lot of purchasers off so, same priceInfact could be worth less
I run a s type r that is gas converted and has been for 100,000 miles , I would not want to use it as a daily if it was not ! I can not tell the difference between petrol and gas as far as performance goes. And at 65p per litre it's cheap to run . I do agree it needs to be a good well fitted kit but they do exist . My only problem is the tank could do with being bigger 190 miles round town and about 230 on a run (can only get 50 litres in it )

out of interest, those running the supercharged jags on LPG, do you have twin or single vapourisers.
I am looking at getting a XKR done and it has been suggested a single vapourisor unit and us epetrol to top up at the high power outputs would be OK with a OMVL system
Can I suggest you join the XK8/R owners club www.xkec.co.ukI am looking at getting a XKR done and it has been suggested a single vapourisor unit and us epetrol to top up at the high power outputs would be OK with a OMVL system
There are some members there that have LPG or are in the process of having it fitted
It is a Members only Forum so you will have to join the Club first to make contact
From what I recall there insn't much room with the supercharger to fit all the bits
I don't think there is much of a premium for an LPG car, especially an older one. I had an 4 litre Sovereign, it was converted at 80k, and I sold it at 325k .. and I still miss it. Swapped for an X350, 4.2 SE 40k FSH (& BRC LPG) for £9.5k a year ago .. which was actually cheaper than a lot of similar cars advertised at the time.
LPG seems to put a lot of people off, as it is still looked at with suspicion from a lot of 'traditionalists'.
The downside is, when I got my X300 LPG was 26p a litre .. my local is no 84p, and cheapest I can find is 75p. Saving doesn't seem so good, (although my 4.2 V8 still seems cheaper to run than my wife's 2 Litre HDi Diesel Peugeot !
