XF brakes pad recommendation for 3.0D
Discussion
Brake pad warning light has come on today on our 2009 3.0D XF and the mileage is just over 20k. I think its pretty shocking tbh based on my previous 15 years of car ownership and the North East Jaguar dealers are quoting £181.50 for replacements (exactly the same, so again will only last approx. 20k miles). They weren't remotely interested when I argued that 20k miles was unacceptable - just the usual 'brake pads are classed as a consumable'.... To me it seems that there is an inherent design fault with the electronic parking brake if it means that you can expect to have to replace the brake pads every 20k miles (i got 70k miles out of the front pads on my 330Ci). I've tried Jagtech at Stockton (indie) and they quoted £90 + sensor + VAT so not a huge amount cheaper and think they said they used Apec pads, so not sure whether they'd last any better.
I know that EBC (?) offer upgraded pads for the 2.7D but it doesn't seem that anyone offers upgraded rear pads for the 3.0D - or does someone know otherwise? Didn't expect the XF to have such an appetite for tyres and brakes (the front tyres only lasted 16k miles and the rears were down to 3mm after 8k miles) - our 330Cd 'vert was a similar weight car but nothing like as heavy on brakes and tyres...

Are these the rears as Jags with an auto and Electronic Parking Brake seem to be more susceptible to poor rear pad life.
I've stopped using my EPB as I had a similar issue to you on my S-Type when the rear driver's side disc was destroyed after the pads started to bind.
That said, they're heavy cars and driving style will also have an effect.
