New XK Convertible - road noise
Discussion
Isn't it just a case of you had a hard roof and now you have a convertible? Does any water come in when it's raining? Only other thing that springs to mind is that there is sound deadening on the material, but that isn't present where the roof meets the glass, hence the noise from the windows?
Nothing to do with saloon to convertible, had an M3 convertible before the XF, no noise. Just had a drive with one of the Jaguar salesmen who agreed that there seemed to be excessive noise, some road surfaces making it far worse. I think I will get it checked out by the dealer as I don't think it should be like that and it does grate on me! Still loving the car!!
I've driven a few XK convertibles and have experienced this on most cars. Compared with the Coupe, there is more road / wind noise coming from the rear, but this is one of the "downsides" of having a soft top I guess.
I never felt it was a major issue though and there were never any water leaks.
Just take the hood down more often is what I say... enjoy the open air!
