XF for (good) reps, XJ for directors. When I was in company-car land many years ago I always preferred the bigger car with the lower spec.
Have to say the colour options are very boring, but you may not have a choice.
I hear that both are superb to drive, but IMHO only half of one them actually looks like a Jaguar. When my S-Type is up for replacement I really don't know what to get.

Thank you for the replies, Choice has been made by the government.
After speaking with the local jag dealership id be getting 15 mpg from the xf and nearly 40 from the xj, I pay for my own fuel and the differance is £400 pcm vs £900, easy choice in the end.!
Good enough reason. At least you have a good colourAfter speaking with the local jag dealership id be getting 15 mpg from the xf and nearly 40 from the xj, I pay for my own fuel and the differance is £400 pcm vs £900, easy choice in the end.!
My XKR is Vapour Grey
XFR is a great car, but the amount of time you will want to floor it and use those 510BHP is limited. The XJ Portfolio is the one to get. It is a fabulous place to sit, the kids will have a nice amount of room. It is the more upmarket car to be in and be seen in. Plus it won't cost you a fortune if you are driving a lot of miles.

I'll second that, ...... having been working regularly on the Jaguar Track Experiences,as an incar instructor, the XJ is a wonderful place to be!! The performance of the XJ with the 3.0lt diesel, isn't that far behind the XFR. Remember the XJ is constructed in Aluminium, against the steel body of the XF. The diesel engine gives 600Nm of torque against 612Nm from the 5.0lt supercharged unit. I did several thousand miles in an XJ 3.0lt last year, taking it around the dealerships, promoting it prior to its release! 40mpg is not difficult, but you definately would struggle to see any respectable figures from the "r". All you would be buying is a very expensive "exhaust note"!! HTH HowardG
