Im getting seriosuly tempted by these now.

Worth a look I guess, though hopefully the Herbert shown in the driver's seat will have summoned up enough enthusiasm to get out and is not part of the sale.
T-reg is one of the first crop which might explain the low price; I got £2,100 for the same model (but 2001 and 150K miles) a year ago.
The way they say 'no offers' is quite clever.

Appreciate the response, how did you get on with yours? T-reg is one of the first crop which might explain the low price; I got £2,100 for the same model (but 2001 and 150K miles) a year ago.

My thinking was he was possibly sat in the car to hide a seriously worn driver’s seat?

My car was great, very nice to drive, had it for over 5 years and did 50K miles in it. The cockpit is a very pleasant place to be. One design weakness was the front suspension; I had to get both front corners done at several hundred £ each so check that. In fact check all the suspension because that seems to go first. 'Excessive play' is the killer. 'Now would be a good time to sell' advised the MOT bod!
A coil went (modern vesion of spark plug I understand) giving lumpy running but was easily fixable.
Cosmetic things: The standard audio quality is grim; look for the Premium Sound head unit and amp under the parcel shelf as clues - however this is a relatively rare option. I found these on eBay over a period and fitted them; vast improvement.
This one doesn't have satnav but if it does, it will CD-based, impossible to update and won't take postcodes. Better than nothing but don't expect too much.
There are three iterations of S-Type, 99-01, 02-05 and 06 on. The latter are called 'facelift', first the front then the back. Spot them quickly by the growler incorporated in the front grille not above it on the bonnet.
I agree the later cars are better sorted and my '06 2.7D feels more solid, better built and 'more like a Jaguar' - but of course they cost more! The dash is based on an XJ, but it brings the cockpit in.
