So I’ve just renewed insurance and value estimate is now 17.5k when it was 30k same time last year.

Anyone have thoughts on the reason, is this entire market wide or are JLR vehicle or F-Pace specifically taking a huge drop.

Funnier still WBAC only offer 12.7k for it.

Anyone able to offer advice on what is going on here? I can only presume it’s all the bad press about the ingenium engine and timing chains on the earlier models, however mine has a 22 engine fitted with the redesigned timing chain.

A quick look on AT suggests that the prices you've been quoted are significantly under what the market is saying.

(Im assuming yours is a 22-plate with average mileage)

No it’s a 2017 plate, with low to average for age mileage (65k). It’s very high specced for options and has ICTP Pro fully undated with OTA updates and CarPlay activated. Full JLR service history, new engine was fitted in 2022 by JLR as Warranty case hence mention of 2022.

Ah ok - in that case the valuations you've been getting appear to be accurate. There are some Cat S on AT for £12k and other ones from £14k upwards

Appreciate valuations seem correct, I’m just trying to get my head around a 30% depreciation in a single year, that’s a huge amount for a car of this age.

It's over 40% depreciation

Is the market reacting to the large reduction in Jag dealerships that's coming along with them moving to EV only and assessing that the current products are less desirable as a result?

Not unusual for a Jaaaaag.

Mate of mine spent £110k 2 years ago on the Le Mans 1988 edition SVR, Now they are between £65k and £75k So at best around £35k in 2 years but potentially £45k in 2 years. No quite as bad as yours, but I expect it will continue to fall.

On the plus side - you don't have the depreciation if you don't sell wink

Yes exactly, I’ve calculated it at 42% on the insurance valuation. It’s 58% if you use the WBAC offer of 12.7k. To me these seem way to high, you might expect large depreciation in first year going down 50-60% in first three years but this seems very high for later years.

You’re not wrong, but with addition of insurance costs rising significantly to unreasonable amounts, despite 15 years no claims bonus, makes me want to sell and get something else, equally I also want to shift away from a diesel and into a petrol V8 or V12.

It’s a 7 year old car, with the small engine - sounds about right tbh.

Middle aged car seen as a ticking timebomb, trade in value is lower than most vs retail because any retailer needs loads of margin in JLR stuff to cover the warranty costs, if they'll touch an ingenium car at all.

Trade in/used prices don't care about options and updates at all and even history isn't a big deal to most buyers and thus most retailers. It's a very hard nosed business. You might get a private buyer who'll pay over the odds for them, if you can find a private buyer at all.

I'd say it was over valued last year, some people weren't over the COVID hangover for used car values, and it's valued about right now.

Just use and enjoy the car, worrying about the value is a one way trip to unhappiness because unless it's something really special they're all on their way to being £1,500 snotters.

Thanks finally someone that posted some thought or insight. I hadn’t considered Covid times meant higher prices.

Makes sense and I for one can completely appreciate the ingenium ticking time-bomb. Mine had a brand new engine, DPF and turbo fitted under 10k miles ago in 2022, so at least is the engine with the redesigned timing chain with hopefully a fair while left of life in it. Luckily it cost me nothing as I was an early case so managed full JLR warranty replacement outside of warranty.

£65-£75K look like dealer retail prices, so a px or WBAC valuation is going to be way lower.

Indeed - Very nice car though, if you like SUV's. Lovely engine.

I’ve been fairly tempted to trade my Ingeniboom 2.0D F-Pace in for an SVR version. Not for keeps, but more while waiting for something a bit more accomplished and higher quality.

I see it as either for a V12 version of the DBX to be released or for the Facelift 2025 DBX707 to have dropped in value and there be a number on the 2nd hand market at more affordable prices.

As mentioned above, 30k last year was too high IMO.
