We're looking to change my wifes Macan/our family car for something electric. It's looking like we may get a Hyundai Ioniq 5, however I can't stop thinking about the I Pace. They are incredible value at the moment. I started looking at 2022+ cars but we really like Borasco grey, which tends to be on older cars. And that takes me to the 2020 HSE that I've seen. Black pack, one owner from new - nice. Approved used so it will come with 24 month warranty.

We do not do many miles, rarely do we do long trips (but we do some occasionally). So whilst the charging capability of the Ioniq 5 is on another level, I'm sure the Jag will be fine. We don't travel for more than a couple of hours without a decent break anyway as we have kids, and my wife also gets very uncomfortable in the car. Comfort is a big thing - again something that the Ioniq 5 offers in spades.

I hadn't realised how "unreliable" the I Pace seems to be. That said, I've also read many owners who rave about them, without issues. And this car is one owner for the last 5 years - how bad can it be??

Thoughts? smile

I’ve had mine for two and a half years - There was a minor issue of phantom drain (the car wasn’t properly “going to sleep” when locked) which went away following an over the air software update but other than that, it’s been faultless (and excellent)

Jaguar themselves however, are useless - The car was delivered without a tyre inflation kit and despite various promises from the dealer it never materialised (various dog ate my homework excuses). They also decided to block third-party access to the cars API so now my home charger isn’t able to determine the state of charge (I prefer to only charge to 80% but the charger can’t read this, so I have to mess around more than I used to when I could just plug it in and walk away)

Thanks for the positive reply.

This car is actually with a company called Grange, and the warranty is their own. Despite being an approved service center, so it gets all the proper checks etc, the car is apparently NOT approved used. Weird. But maybe that's a good thing, if it's not officially a JLR car

Oh and strangely, (or perhaps not?) but this HSE doesn't have the pan roof...

December 2020 was probably during the time of all the Covid/Semiconductor parts shortages - All sorts of options disappeared (not just with Jaguar) if the parts weren’t available…

There is no need to buy what is probably an overpriced used iPace now.
Did you know that Jaguar are almost 'giving away' a huge number of brand new iPace cars?
Well almost brand new. They have been registered, but never sold and mileages show about 20 miles.
129 are currently being advertised, so you should find the specification that you want.
25 plate registrations, list price over £70,000, now being advertised at around £37,000.

Think what this activity by Jaguar, will do to the prices of used iPace cars.
If a new EV costs £37,000, a four year old one might only be worth 35% of that original price.
You are looking to buy one at just the right time.

They are incredible value, and a HUGE amount of car for the money. Sadly we couldn't insure it for a sensible price so I've gone for the Ioniq 5.

I think people have got used to EV insurance often being higher but a mate (professional job, early 40's, lives in rural area) bought a used iPace a couple of years ago without checking how much the insurance would be and the only way he could get it under a grand was to have a black box.

He was always a bit of a "press-on" driver and it terrified him until he could get a normal policy a year later!
