After quite a lengthy search looking for a decent (X300 onwards) XJ , I recently purchased a 2005 3.5 XJ8 Japanese Import in amazing condition with 8,700 miles on it.

The car was supplied with MPH Speedo, UK radio/nav , comprehensive service and ULEZ certification.

I would like to change the front number plate from Japanese spec to UK, is this as simple as purchasing a UK number plate plinth and attaching this to the car? From what I ve read elsewhere, changing the rear plate involves changing the panels adjacent to the plate, not so bothered about the rear but the front I would like to tackle sooner rather than later.

Any pointers appreciated, thanks.

I think this is the part number for the front number plate mount: HHC6458AA

You should be able to buy this direct from a Jaguar main dealer. Failing that, a specialist Jaguar supplier will almost certainly be able to supply one.

Not sure about the rear number plate but I think you're right about having to change the boot. Better to leave it as is IMO.

Car looks absolutely mint so congratulations. If it were mine, I'd want to change the front grill for a black honeycomb grill as fitted to XJR's.

Thats info/part No is very much appreciated, thank you.

I’ll check out the aesthetics of the XJR grill for sure, cheers.

I think that part number may be for the X300/X308. Have a look at the SNG Barratt website; at a quick glance I reckon it is C2C1523 for the X350 up to chassis H18679 (which I presume is all pre-X358) but best you check:

https://www.sngbarratt.com/English/uk/FindParts/Fa...

My brother has a 2004 UK-spec X350, and the bootlid has a plastic panel that fits to the main panel and carries the number plate and badges, so it looks as if this could be changed on yours rather than the whole bootlid.

My mistake. I had an XJR X308. It was a long time ago though so just got a little confused frown

Actually prefer the egg crate grill. The mesh one is a bit aftermarkety. The original design looks best, the post launch changes haven't aged as well as the first ones i reckon.
So many cars are fitted with yoof mesh grill I prefer the XJ series one homage look of the one you have. Even saloon cars are a bit of a novelty in the days of SUV's .
Nice motor.
Think I would find a boot lid in same colour and swap to UK plate too. Keep the Japanese one as spare.

I'd leave the rear number as it is - looks fine.

That's a mint condition car, amazing!

No problem. We’ve all been there…😁.

With work and other commitments, I actually haven’t driven it on the road as yet, it’ll be in June I’ll be using it, hopefully will get along to some Jaguar gatherings with the car. I’m sure they’ll be more questions after that!

Thanks all
