Does anyone know how Audi alter the bhp figures on their diesel engines? Is it just a chip change?

There are:

1.9 TDi (110ps)
1.9 TDi (115ps)
1.9 TDi (130ps)

2.5 TDi (150ps)
2.5 TDi (155ps)
2.5 TDi (163ps)
2.5 TDi (180ps)

If it's just a chip, then I might buy a lower bhp model as they are much cheaper, then just chip it to a higher bhp spec.

IIRC the turbos are slightly different too, as is the boost

Same thing goes for the 1.8T engine. Comes in 150, 163, 180, 225 guises plus many more probably...

The 180, interestingly, seems noticably more pokey than the 163 - more so than the difference on paper would suggest.

The 110 is the old TDi design of diesel engine with a conventional injector pump. The 115 and 130 are the newer Pumpe Düse direct injection engines. I think the difference between the 115 and 130 is more than just a chip but the 115 can be chipped up to 130 easily.

The 1.8T petrols have 3 types of turbo to give the BHP levels between 150 and 225 BHP.

210/225 have twin intercoolers and a bigger turbo over the 150/180

I had the redeye 1.9 tdi A3, and was chipped to around 155/160 bhp, and shitloads of torque...was great fun! Converted me to accepting new diesels as decent engines!

16 year bump. Good work.
