May be an odd question. I have an Octavia VRS, alloy wheels and bought a steel spare. Do I need different, shorter wheel studs?

If it's an OEM steel wheel then no, as it will use radius seat bolts the same as the alloys. Just double check the profile of the holes though to make sure. The standard 27mm bolt.length will be fine.

I wouldn't have thought so. Lots of Skoda models came with 4 alloy wheels and one steel spare ,with no mention of different nuts.

I have a 2012 Octavia vRS with 18" alloy wheels and have used the 16" steel spare with the standard wheel bolts with no problems.
