Unsure which fabia engine is best bet.
Discussion
We purchased a mini cooper 18 months ago, unfortunately we have found that it is just not practical enough for our needs. Decided to go back to a Skoda Fabia, we had a 2.00 tdi before the mini.
Looking at Fabia’s, a 2015/6 model ,now I cannot decide which engine will be best for our needs. The car will be a shopping trolley and general day to day light duties with the occasional longer journey to visit family and holidays.
I understand that the tdi are now fitted with a dpf which can be problematic, so perhaps a petrol engined car. Not the 1.00 lt as it’s not powerful enough for us.
Recommendations please.

We've got two in the family.
Both the 1.2 cc petrol 108bhp 4 pot engine. 2016 models.
It's a brilliant engine, nippy, economical, and £20 RFL.
We went to see about changing one recently and I just didn't like the newer 3 pot ones.
We had the 90bhp 4 pot before, its good, but the 108bhp is so much better for the odd overtake.

I have a Rapid with the 1.2TSI engine, still find it very slow! But then I do have an RS clio and motorbike...
Out of interest, what sort of MPG are people getting? I'm struggling to get over 45mpg and that's driving it slow on the motorway!
There's something wrong with your car I'd say.Out of interest, what sort of MPG are people getting? I'm struggling to get over 45mpg and that's driving it slow on the motorway!
I have a Fabia 1.2 Tsi and get 46mpg around town, and normally 52mpg on a long run.
Recently I got over 60mpg when really trying, sitting at 65mph for around two hours.
How much heavier is a Rapid over a Fabia? Not much I'd have thought.
Quick edit,, my car has the 110bhp with the 6 speed box.
Is yours the 90bhp with the 5 speed?
Not that it'd make that much difference I'd guess?

It's the 6 speed "greenline" which I think is 105bhp from memory.
Rapid isn't that heavy according to official figures...

I think the greenline was the earlier engine, so I guess not fair to compare with my results.

I do normally get the combined figure on cars, which on the Skoda is 55mpg... not getting anywhere near that.I think the greenline was the earlier engine, so I guess not fair to compare with my results.
Think there probably is something wrong, just don't know what! I've serviced it recently too.
