I have an Arteon 2 litre petrol with the 190bhp unit and its started over the last few days running very poorly

I know its fitted with a GPF which I was putting down as the cause but I'm not so sure now, not really any burning smell, idle is normal and the fan doesn't seem to run when the engine is shut off, MPG has dropped on my normal 10 mile commute from around 38mpg to 17mpg at best and the car is very hesitant on the move and it very much feels like a misfire, idle is normal.

Tried to increase the revs and alter the drive modes power seems down but not significantly when giving it the beans

I've done a bit of research and not come across much regarding the ea888 Gen 3 engine doing this, any advice before contacting VW?

Cheers

Buy/borrow a cheap diagnostic scanner.

Various places such as Gumtree will have adverts for people who could scan it for you.

Could be a coil pack on the way out?

Common enough on the previous EA888s.

is it under warranty?

Most indy garages will have the kit to diagnose it if not

I have a reader and have scanned it and it has no errors, but mine isn’t as advanced as the dealers and Indys, tried the old school method yesterday, bit more super unleaded and took it on a much longer run, feels better and economy is coming back up, genuinely didn’t think this sort of think could happen to a petrol, but it is my first with a GPF
