ADVICE NEEDED - 2006 A6 C6 2.7tdi bottom end knock
Discussion
All,
I'm after some advice if you would? - Most will say scrap it off but I'm in slight quandary;
As per title the car had a slight, intermittent engine noise before winter when it was parked only through lack of use, which has manifested as being a bottom end knock.
I have advertised the car on Ebay as such but only get silly offers from people who all claim to be my brother...

I have been quoted cira £1.5k to drop in a much lower (89k) engine. But was told by one garage that I could still get £2k as it sits.
I know I can't replace it (like for like) for £1.5k but then i will never gain the cost back if/when I do want to sell.
What do I do for the best?

Unless you're a dealer (in which case sell it to a breaker) I think you're looking at this from the wrong angle.
Do you want to keep and continue driving the car?
If so, spend the money and fix it. You will spend significantly more replacing it and unless you're spending 10+ times more and getting a much newer car you're talking another 2nd hand car which will not be perfect. If you buy a seemingly good car for a few thousand that then needs a major service, discs all round, and a couple of suspension bits that's your 1500 quid anyway.
Better the devil you know!
