Hi
Try lifting the outside handle when the door won’t open and lock and unlock the car a few time with the fob (keeping the handle pulled up) then try the door.
I've now got it not doing it...but i can hear a noise coming near the handle/lock when i lock the car.Try lifting the outside handle when the door won’t open and lock and unlock the car a few time with the fob (keeping the handle pulled up) then try the door.
Sorry I don’t understand your reply. Do you mean it is working ok now but you now have a noise from the door when operating the locks?

It's intermittent if i'm being honest. Sorry I don’t understand your reply. Do you mean it is working ok now but you now have a noise from the door when operating the locks?
Doors seem to be opening now, I've got some time today to look into it again and if its a recurring pattern and I've ordered a set of trim removal tools to defer the job lol.
It's disappointing as the cars 4 years old.
I found the handle was sticking a bit a year or so ago but thought it was wax paste I'd got in there, I wonder if the yanking on it has pulled the cable inside. OR I've got water in there.
Took the panel off and got to the lock, with the trim removal tool kit its not too bad.
Nothing noticeable on the lock being disconnected, except it won't lock, so I suspect looking at some YT videos it's something inside the actuator fooked/blown/come loose.
I've ordered another one on eBay from a breakers so will wait for this to arrive and have a look inside.
Very disappointed this has gone based on age/usage, granted I've had a baby for six months but the cars done 70k.
I phoned up VW as well for a part and they wanted 120 quid for the replacement part....I said I'd ring them back!

Well job has just been finished.
I got the door open with this useful video;

You need the prying tool set

Opening up wasn't too problematic although be careful with pressure as I've made a bit of a dogs dinner of some of the edge of the panel which won't be noticeable tbh unless the doors open and you are aware its there, I know why the guy waits for a click (will share why at end of the post).
On inspection nothing was loose so I ended up just buying a used lock unit on eBay from a breakers for 20 quid. The manufacture of this one is different so maybe its a bad batch?
Removal of the door screws does need the appropriate set of heads, this is NOT torx you need the star head or you'll blunt the screw, get a rachet as well.
It was a bit fiddly getting the old cables off, I couldn't work out how to remove the existing handle connection, however you twist it 90 degrees and it slots out, the same for the inside handle connection. Beware I've snapped mine, I tried gorilla gluing but it didn't seem to hold well enough so I've just left it.
Now...back to the part about the clicking when undoing the panel. You hear a pop/click because its the trim retaining clips popping out. Not sure if in the video he pops them out of the car door or the slots they go in. I tried working out how to get the panel back on and that was a head scratcher, watching this video explained what I needed to do;

I popped the clips out the door, whacked them in the door slots then pushed it all back in again.
JOB DONE it works...(for now).
