Brake pad warning light has just come on in the wife's S5.

Called local main dealer to get ball park cost for replacement ... think they are taking the pi$$

Front £642, Rear £508.

I asked is that just pads !

Answer was no, discs and pads ... we only change both.

Car has only done 26k miles.

Surely there's no need to change discs unless they're needed.

Have they looked at the car?

Quoting blind, they'll quote for the discs.

Suggest trying a recommended independent local to you.

Audi fixed price service, £655 for front, £495 for the back, discs and pads. £255 and £210 for the pads only, if they only change both why give a price for only the pads?

Theres a link to download the full pricing:

That's really useful thanks.

I dislike this main dealer with a passion, the service department are a nightmare to deal with.

A couple of years ago I ripped them apart on a busy Saturday AM as they had basically just charged my wife over £1500 to fix a problem on her S4 which they admitted hadn't worked.

Agree with you OP.

I have tried two separate dealers now. Both are 'lacking' and both are pressing heavily for work that is not required.
Specifically the change of discs. 'because signs of corrosion'.
The pads were 70% used, so they are flagging those too !

Having used the 'service plan' for the last two years, it is apparent that is bks too. That only covers the Oil change.

Similarly. The Full Extended Warranty. Turns out that the camera fault I have - wouldnt be covered if it was due to Wiring.
They wont know if it is wiring until they dismantle it. And guess who has to pay for that?

ste, and going to use the spotless local mech in the village a 250yd walk away. This AllRoad I have is a long term keeper so ZFG about the main stealer stamps {digital} anymore.
