Replacing Rear Door Lock Actuator...

I am replacing a lock actuator in a Polo 1.4 TDI 2008 (UK spec)
When I removed the original actuator, I noticed the plastic bracket (see below) is cracked
At first I thought this would also have to be replaced but upon closer inspection it looks to me as though it only serves to assist in aligning the actuator with the mounting holes in the door frame.
It's only £3 but I don't want to delay replacing the actuator unless the bracket is integral to it's operation
Any advice greatly appreciated.
