My GTi's OSF wing has the usual bubbling starting to show. The wing is the original one. NSF is also original but no sign of issues.

It's not got to a stage where it is unsightly yet but I am tempted to replace it.

Big question is really how people have found the ebay wings in terms of colour match and general fit and alignment? At £125 per wing it seems like a nice simple, cost effective solution but I'm worried about there being an obvious colour difference in particular.

A bodyshop would at least blend the surrounding area to make it look good; paint of that age won't be as new.

It's less than half the price though...

I did the same on my Passat, the colour match was not great but it was much better than a rusty wing.

Yeah, bodyshop is option 2 though I'd probably wait until it looked worse and get both wings done at once and some stone chips etc seen too if I can go down that route.

Factory option Pearl blue. Fitted it my self and alignment was fine.
Just a touch off on the exact colour match but it was not a disaster.

Mine have started to go, not too bad but I’ve decided to go for a pair of genuine wings and get the front end resprayed. Tornado red so hopefully blended won’t stand out too much.
Red can stick out like a sore thumb sometimes.
Pay attention to the corners down by the front doors too, they start to rust here and it’s difficult to see until it spreads. Worth doing when the wings are off.

I had a similar decision to make a few months back with my ed30. Although mine was after an interaction with a deer as opposed to rust.

I bought a genuine VW wing for around £60 from TPS I believe. Then had the front end sprayed for circa £300. Finish was great. I’ve heard very mixed reviews on the eBay reviews ones so decided to go with the above route as the car was pretty immaculate before.

Guess it depends on how tidy the car is and wether you plan on keeping it longer term?

Edit - I fitted them myself and alignment was perfect and not hard to do. There is also a sponge block that every man and his dog recommend to remove as it is what traps water against the wing. I’ve removed mine to help in the future.
