Doing a full clean up on the car and under the section where the door closes I've noticed what I think is a rust spot.

Not something to worry about but this is a 5 year old car washed regular and it says in the VW warranty any signs of rust within warranty need to be reported?

Anyone got a view on this?

I would guess it will just be classed as a stonechip or similar so they may not be interested, you can always try.
Worth getting it sorted now though as it will only get worse.

Is this the result of damage i.e. stone chip or has it come up in the middle of an undamaged panel. If the former just get it sorted, if the latter I would get it checked by the dealer as you never know.

Covered under the body corrosion warranty I would expect.

I’ve a 2017 rs6 and I found 2 small spots of rust on each side of the rear reversing camera. Contacted Audi on the hope what you said. They refused point blank, had garage look where I bought the car and they contacted Audi but got nowhere either. GM motors who I bought the car from did the respray for the cost of the paint. Much better than the £800 Audi wanted.

Different experience to me, Audi picked up 70% of the cost for rust in the roof channel and around the 3rd brake light without much hassle.

The car did have a significant Audi service history which also helped but really should not have made a difference.

Cannot remember if the claim was under the corrosion warranty or not as the car was probably 8-9 years old at the time.
