So I love this car!
Bought it in 2010 at 3 years old, for holidays/weekends away.
It’s a 3.0 tdi. Quattro, manual box, Chipped to give 300 bhp/ 450 ft lb torque.
To me it’s perfect, comfortable, fast, will do near to 50mpg on motorway. Handles well enough for me, great Bose stereo, etc. Has good luggage capacity, especially with fitted luggage I bought. So the perfect car to drive down to the alps, top up in great comfort, with gear for three week holiday, and great fun, to drive around, top down in the mountains.
It’s still only done 65000 miles.
When I had owned it for a couple of years, I took it to a company that specialises in rustproofing and had a comprehensive job done on underside.
I think these engines are pretty much bulletproof.
I service it every two years, long life oil, new fuel, oil and air filters, and brake fluid change.
Put new discs, pads on it a couple of years ago.
New rear springs 5 years ago, as one broke!
It’s garaged, and we try not to use it when salt on the roads.
Interior is still as new.
Hood is still as new, had motor issue fixed a couple of years ago.
So apart from an accident, how long can it realistically be kept going?
The front wings are starting to bubble up on edges, I think they are a fairly simple bolt on job, back wings are starting as well, but not as bad. So contemplating new front wings, repairs to rears, repaint. I am guessing that will cost around £5000. Probably what car is worth to sell. But this would be worth it to me, as I genuinely can not think what I would replace it with.
What I do not want to do though is spend that sort of money, and then be faced with big bills for something else, or worse, something going wrong, that simply can not be repaired as parts not available.
Thoughts, opinions welcomed?

£5000 for the repairs you mention is way off, I'd expect it to cost closer to £1000 if it needs a pair of wings and some superficial rust repair.
Well worth sorting out in my opinion if the car is in good condition.

The wings for those are minimum £300 a piece. They’re different to the saloon / avant and the only place you seem to be able to get them is direct from Audi.

In theory you could keep anything going with an unlimited budget so it’s technically unkillable. Put a monetary limit on repairs and you could probably think of a few things. Timing belt snapping or clutch going for example could be expensive.

Yes I would want genuine Audi wings, around £500 the pair I think.
Paint is misano pearl red, so probably pricey. If I was going to do it, I would want a full respray, to a very high standard!
No timing belt it’s a chain on these engines, one of the reasons I bought it. I did buy it to keep for a while!
Not sure how much clutch would be, can’t imagine more than 2k.
