I've liked the styling of Audis for many years now, but I was following a new A1 the other week, and I thought it didn't look as good as the old one...this got me thinking about their other models, starting at the top, I thought 'well, I've always thought the original R8 was better looking...' and as I thought about each model, I really wasn't convinced that any new ones look better than the ones they replaced...what does everyone think?
I must stress that I'm only talking about external styling, not interiors, not size, not tech...just styling

I agree. I think the late 00's versions look better than the current generation, ie R8, TT, S3 etc. That said, they mostly look fine, and of all the manufacturers currently selling cars, they don't make nearly as many ugly models as others do.

Very true, none of the current Audi range are really offensive, unlike some other manufacturers, but it's still a step in the wrong direction when every model isn't as stylish as its elder

god no, have you seen the current crop?

For me the styling peaked at the C7 A6 (I know i had 2) these were simply gorgeous, the current C8 is a serious mess inside and out, so around 2011 for me which would include The A4 B8 and A3 8P too.

It must be my age as BMW's too from that year were peak styling for me too hahaah

Totally agree, while current Audi styling doesn’t make them the worst lookers on the road, they’ve certainly taken a step backwards. Bling over class, I give you the S3 previous and current incarnations:

100% not.

Huge Audi fan, but all the trash that has come since the BS bonnet gap is just detracting for the look. Headlights with eyebrow strakes, chrome stuff where it shouldn't be, massive "diffusers", the list goes on & it's starting to "out Halford" Halfords.

The sooner the clowns that are pushing all this nonsense are gone, the better.

Agreed on the A4 B8 and A3 8P. The S Line models with the xenons and DRLs still look great.

Hmm, with BMWs, I think they peaked with the e39 & e46, been downhill pretty much ever since ...I will make exceptions for the outgoing 'gran coupes' 4-series ( F36 ) & 8-series ( F93 ) though...

I think it's all gone downhill since the crisp elegance of the B3 90 and the C3 200 frown

Audis look old within a few years owing to their refresh durations and the fact they all look the same. When you see lots of cars looking the same, you get bored of them. Then they look ordinary. My god, I’m even boring myself writing this about Audis hehe
