About a month ago the fancy satellite maps on my 2020 A5 stopped working and my car displays a no data connection message a short time after I start it up. As far as I am aware as the car is only 9 months old it still has the relevant Audi subscription.

Anyone else experienced the same recently or know how to fix it?

Speak to the supplying dealer - this is to do with Audi losing their Google Earth licensing agreement. Audi will update the MMI with a new version - this works for all Audis from 2018 onwards (some 2017s can also be upgraded but check - my 17 plate A5 can't frown)

Ah the supplying dealer is about 300 miles away.

Is yours a 'facelift' version with the touchscreen?

Assuming it is then I don't believe that update, which was issued to overcome the google earth service being discontinued at the end of last year for older model years, is required.

Yes it is the facelift.

You need a working SIM card to get the pretty maps (or maybe not in new Audis?)

You mention no data connection - have you swapped out to another SIM? Do you have a data limit?

Comes with a built in SIM for the data connection.

Sadly from last December Audi charge (c.£170 a year) to renew the subscription once the original free period expires.

I haven’t touched the sim. I think that as my car is only 9 months old it should still be in the free period?

There should be either one year or three years 'complimentary' subscription from new, if you go on the 'my audi' website it will warn you if the subscriptions have expired or are about to expire.

In the first instance I would be tempted to get in contact with Audi digital support on digitalsupport.uk@audi.de or 0800 279 2884

Anything to do with this article, where it mentions:

"I use CarPlay most of the time, but that only works over a wired connection currently – it should be wireless over Bluetooth as well. Because I use CarPlay it took me a while to realise the built-in sat nav was only showing regular maps, not the satellite imagery it was supposed to.

And I’ve still never managed to get it to talk to the myAudi app on my phone. Now, normally I wouldn’t be particularly fussed about this (I never bothered with it when I ran the RS6 last year), but the app allows me to manage the GT’s charging and that is important. So having mostly ignored it over the last few months, I had a concerted effort at pairing the myAudi phone app with my Audi. After about an hour of trying to sort it myself, I called my local dealer. They were super helpful, but after another hour of sitting in the car, putting in emails, codes and passwords and checking LTE coverage (that’s the car’s built in data connection), we’d made no progress."

The connection in my 3 month old Q5 packed up a month ago and it wouldn’t let me log in to the car. I had a few calls back and forth with Audi Tech Services, I reset the MMI, disassociated the car with the app, my MyAudi account and all sorts, they deduced it was a connection issue with the car. It finally went into the dealers today, they wiped all the MMI and nav system off the car and reinstalled it, it now lets me log in to the car. I then needed to put the 10 digit car code in to the app to re-associate the app with the car and that then wouldn’t work. I called Audi Tech Services who said the 10 digit code is obsolete and they verify the car is mine themselves. I was sent an invite to start a webcam call with them so they could view my V5 and my passport to prove who I was and the car was mine. After about 2 hours the car would then let me log in and the app works properly.

Such a bloody faff! See how long before it fks up again!

Tech services respond a lot quicker by ringing them, they never replied to my emails.

This is the message I kept getting when I tried to log in. Strange because it had a 3G signal so there was still a signal but normally it’s a LTE signal.

Yes, I got told to try that too, it didn’t work.

In other news, the new MMI system that was installed yesterday now says I can have 2 phones connected at the same time, like in my old A6, it would only allow one before.

Tried the fix and it worked straight away.
