On a Mk7.5 Golf, is the android auto wired or wireless? If it's wired, are there any solutions to make it wireless?

It’s wired but you can buy universal adaptors to make AA wireless

I've tried two; one when such things first came out, and another recently on an Amazon flash sale.

Both have been sent back. Yes, they're convenient, but they're horrible battery hogs and seem to work the phone quite hard (mine gets fairly hot in use). Didn't work well for my use.

I have an AAWireless and it works well. Yes Android Auto wireless uses quite a bit of battery but it's so convenient especially for short journeys.

I just plug in if i know i'll be driving an hour+.

Different car but I have Carplay/Android auto in my Audi S4 and it has a wireless option (at least for carplay) which works very well but, as above, it kills the phone battery in no time so I've disabled the wireless and only ever use it plugged in.

I purchased the cheapest wireless adaptor I could find on ebay, to plug into my mk7 GTi, been in 12 months now, no problems. Takes 15-20 seconds ish for the screen to show once you start the car, then everything works fine, no lag when selecting things, all good. I only went wireless as my wired connection kept dropping randomly, tried different cables and nothing would work, so went wireless and had no dropouts.
