HELP!!!! 2011 PASSAT BROKEN ELECTRONIC HANDBRAKE

Hi PH friends, need help!!

My Dad has a 2011 VW Passat estate, the electronic handbrake switch has broken and as such it is stuck on my sisters driveway. Is there another way of releasing the handbrake at least temporarily?

Hoping some of you may come back quite quickly!!!!

No experience of a 2011 Passat.but does the car have an Autohold switch next to the handbrake switch? Turning this on should make the handbrake go off and on automatically.

So I replaced the switch but although you can hear the brakes trying to release, they stay on. Grrr.
Waiting for an a mobile auto-sparks but these seem thin on the ground...
