2018 A8 Gearbox Service

Morning all,

I have a 2018 A8 (3.0 Diesel) and I want to get the gearbox serviced.

It's been a great car and so far not playing up in any way i thought best to get the gearbox serviced and flush the fluids in the transfer case and diff/s too at the same time.

Can anyone recommend any good independents that would do this in and around Herts/Beds/Bucks? Happy to travel further a field if the Garages reputation is worth it.

Also for others that have the ZF 8 Speeder how often do you service it? Have others just left it as the dealer states sealed for life?

Rather than a general garage or make specialist, I'd suggest you seek out a place that deal with auto transmissions, eg, https://www.stephensengineering.co.uk/ is the sort of place to look for. (not used them personally, just an example)

If you hunt around on the ZF service site you can find their recommendations for the gearbox type, from memory about 40k miles was their figure.

I was going to make the same suggestion; this will be a lot cheaper and easier to do with a gearbox person than an Audi dealer/specialist.

I know of and have used 3D transmissions in Reading but may be slightly out of area for you.

I was having a real minefield of quotes returned to me so thought best to ask the question on here. I am currently on 88k and have no history of it ever been done so I thought best to do it as preventative maintenance.
