Hi guys,

Just a quick Q, I am looking at a very tidy 1999 S reg A4, with a full audi service history which is on 129k miles.

The service announcment thingy is now flashing, and I was wondering if anyone knew what the approx cost would be at an independant garage for this service?

The car is in exceptional condition, drives well, with no suspension knocks, or slop in the steering. Is there anything else specific I should look out for? (It has both beepy keys, I know how much they cost!)

Thanks in advance for you help,

Ben

Make sure all the electrics work, and the panel gaps should be perfect if its not been dinged. You obviously know about the suspension joints at the front...

A fresh MOT just for you would a good piece of mind.

It should be pretty cheap to service - 4 cylinder petrol - no turbo or anything fancy to go wrong. Places like eurocarparts sell airfilters, oil filters etc. dirt cheap.

Find out when the cambelt was last changed, it's not too expensive (around £250) but it might be due soon at that mileage.

Cheers Leo....it was done 2000 miles ago...

Does £3.6k sound like a good deal?

I part exchanged my '99 T reg 1.8 A4 Avant (not SE) last year for £4300 so the price doesn't sound too bad, especially if it's from a dealer.

Try to get the clear headlight model (March 99 on) if you can, much smoother and quieter ride and better handling.
