A3 sportsback S-line

Guys I am looking for a bit of advice, wifes car is up for renewal. As the name goes I have a 911 so I need something practical, but not to big & as she is a 80's girl she is hung up on the BMW/ect badge thing, so I was thinking a A3 sportsback S-line 2.0TDI.

Does anyone have one? if so what do you think of it, any suggested extras that are must?

And yes I have tried to get her in a A4 but "it's to big".

Has she tried driving the A4? My wife said the same thing (of my '99 S4) until she drove it and she was surprised how a) easy and b) "compact" A4's actually are.
