Audi TT engine problems
Discussion
Hi everyone,
Just thought I would post some issues I am having my with TT in case anyone can offer any advice?
Have a 02' 225 TT with 39k and FASH. About 2 months ago I had the old coil pack issue when two packs went. Bought them from Audi for £50 and got the AA to fit them - no problems. Since then the engine has been rough and it overheated slightly so took it to the Audi garage.
They diagnosed water pump (common problem!) and put the new modified temp sensor in. Picked it up after cheeky £700 bill only to find after 30mins that it was running rough on idle again and to my horror the temp hoofed up over 90degrees again only to be bought back by the fans working hard. Therefore no change!
Took it back to Audi with Mr Angry head on and am still waiting for them to get back to me after 5 working days, just prompted them for action!
Anyone have any ideas what then problem could be? Its a low mileage engine and aisde from this have had no problems.
many Thanks!!

Have had temp sensor go on my TT - symptoms : none other than the engine mangement light coming on. Temp okay, engine running okay.
Not true on every car. Also worth keeping an eye on the temp gauge on the dash. You may see it registering "cold" for a long period then suddenly jump to running temp. Its an easy DIY change and about £15.You should argue about paying for coil packs too. Your dealer can ask Audi UK for a warranty replacment on a car with full Audi service history - even if its now out of warranty, because the known faulty packs should have been changed during routine servicing.
For all interested the garage reckoned it was the dash that was faulty showing incorrect readings on temp!! They have now changed it at cost to Audi under their warranty - I hear they are doing this across the board now as opposed to an official recall!
Car running fine now - although have now got an A/C issue which I will post on a separate link, German reliability? Think not!!
