Paint blisters TT roof rails ?
Discussion
Hi,
Ironic, i have just spotted the same on my TT, a 53 Plate also. Literally i have just returned from the Audi garage, they say the roof bit is 'Trim' and may not be part of the bodys lifetime warranty! Needless to say i was not impressed. Its in on Friday for the 'inspection', i have a faulty passanger side zeon bulb, not impressed!

Bubbling paintwork on the roof rails is quite common on TT coupes and don't let Audi tell you otherwise. It happened on mine and was repaired under warranty although, as it was still under the 3 year Audi warranty, I'm really not sure whether they did it under that warranty or the paintwork warranty. If you do a search on the TT-forum you should find enough examples to show your dealer that it's not a rare occurrence. Actually I noticed the bubbling was coming back just before I part exed the TT.

Wounded, headlight required. Should be looking about £1250ish to get that bulb working again. Its in on Friday for the 'inspection', i have a faulty passanger side zeon bulb, not impressed!
In light of the bulb, i'm hoping this is just the wire that people keep saying is a common problem or the ballast unit, either way i hope its well inter the £1k mark!
I had the bubbles on my roof rails and the work was undertaken under warentee. Only to bubble up again 12 months later! The VAG inspector who looked at the car stated this was a common problem and was due to the fact that the roof components are made from differant metal materials and the etch primer on the rails is fiddly to apply at the factory and conseqently is a manufacturing fault.
