Hi guys,

i normally frequent the bmw forums, however I've got up to 15k burning a hole in my pocket and I can't decide on a new motor...

I've been thinking of a bmw m-coupe (z3 based one), however I hadn't even considered a TT coupe.

Whats the inside track on them... are they any good?- Will i be dissappointed coming from BMW's to an audi tt?

cheers

I have driven a few 225 TTs and a friend has just bought the Z3M Coupe and they are very very different cars. The TT is a very safe and secure 4wd car which looks great inside and out, the interior especially is excellent. The Beemer is a tail happy 320-325 bhp hooligan! BMW is a lot faster, more fun and better to drive I would say but not very attractive with a dated interior...

You pays your money...

thanks for that - i understand they are different beasts, however I'm just keen to hear from some owners about the TT... Like I said, I've always been into BMW's, but I'm certainly open to change.

cheers

I recently traded my 04 225 TT for a new S3 and found the TT a very nice car to live with reatively fast, iconic looking motor with a fantastic interior. A basic remap will give you 260-270bhp, fairly economical and relatively bomb proof mechanically, just ensure it's had a cambelt, tensioner and waterpump change if it's done over 60k miles.

The TT : a great everyday car. Mine still feels like a nice place to be after 5 years.

Not the fastest and certainly not the best handling but is fast enough and grippy enough put a smile on your face (although not the grin, or the brown trousers that the M3 Coupe will bring!).

Economical and bombproof (other than the electrics) certainly sums them up - 30MPG on super and servicing every 19k miles. Mine costs more in tyres than servicing as it goes through a set in 15k.
