Audi TT-S3-Leon cupra r
Discussion
Hello to all
I'm looking for some advice. I currently have my S1 Lotus Elise for sale and moving from the dark side i am considering an Audi TT/S3 (225 versions) or maybe a Leon cupra r. Which car is regarded as the best all round car and for what reasons? I have done some research and the Audi's seem to have several reoccurring problems does the leon have the same problems due to it having the same VAG engine?
Final question, there seems to be lots of early high mileage S3's that have been on sale for a long period that still demand high prices, more expensive than a TT of similar age/mileage, is there a reason for this?
Many thanks in advance

I like the cupra R but if I'm honest it will never match up to the drivability of an S3 due to the Haldex 4WD system.
Don't be put off by higher mileage S3's either, they really are bullet proof if they have been looked after properly and well maintained.
In my opinion, the TT feels rubbish in comparison to an S3. That said I have never driven an S3 but have been passenger in one but I have driven a 225bhp TT and was very unimpressed.
AngryS3Owner can give you a comparison as he has driven both (oh and he will be selling his S3 soon which is a fine example :thumgup

.Have owned a TT225 for 5 years now and have driven several S3s. There really is nothing in it.....and why should they be. They are the same car in a different body.
Essentially the TT, IMHO, looks better outside and in but is far less practical - pitiful back seats and a shallow boot. Equipment levels are around the same as of course is performance. Which one you choose is therefore personal preference based around the above.
Any recurring problems tend to be electrical - coil packs, indicator relays and coolant sensors have all gone on mine and are common problems.
S3s maybe sell at a higher price because there are far fewer of them on the road. Not really sure.
Can't comment of the Leon but a lighter car with 2 wheel drive brings with it both advantages and disadvantages. Build quality and materials are apparently lower but you do pay less.
