Audi A6 Avant advice
Discussion
I am going to view this on saturday morning:
http://www.carint.co.uk/details.php?id=12 .
Is there anything in particular I should be paying attention to, besides all the usual details when purchasing a second hand car?
I've read that the service intervals are 22k and cambelts should be done at 80K. Is this correct?
Has the Auto box got a sport function? What difference does that make?
Does this seem a fair price?
It will be a replacement for a Ford Focus and a Fiat Coupe 20vt, I now need something larger, well made and with a decent image, and this Audi seems to fit the bill.
Many thanks for any pointers.

I have an Audi 1.8T Avant and it has proved very reliable. No mention of engine on the ad ? The 1.9Tdi is gutless with tiptronic, mines a manual, seem to remember the 1.8T Tiptronic was not impressive either especially in automatic. The cars themselves take mileage well and you should have no indications of high mileage at 112K. Wear occurs most on front suspension items, at this mileage you could be looking at the second time for replacement arms. Audi have changed the cambelt mileage/age advice frequently. The 1.8T was 6 years or 60K and mine has had two on those intervals. They now say 4 years 30K miles but stories of cambelt failure are not common.
Hope it is a good one

expect that its the plain 2.0- a bit underpowered to be honest.Hope it is a good one

It's the 2.4: http://www.carint.co.uk/list.php. (just need to scroll down the list)
Thanks for the advice
Thanks for the advice

Make sure the CVT gearbox works smoothly at all times, including pulling away and coming to rest. They are wonderful gearboxes but can be a world of expensive trouble if you're unlucky. Make sure you test it in as many different scenarios as possible.
I've now got a torque converter auto as I just don't want the hassle of CVT any more.
The 2.4 is known for using a lot of oil, so keep an eye on the rear-view mirror for smoke.
