Hi guys just a quick visit from the porsche forum..is anyone on here running a Golf GTI at over 250bhp if so how does it handle all the extra power??? i have heard rumours of GTI's running 307bhp from superchips and it all sounds mighty appealing..

hi - also lurk at porsche forum most of the time.

for what its worth i have the limited edition Edition30 GTI which offical figures say has 230 bhp, but has been measured at over 240+ on some rolling roads.

Car handles fine, not too much torque steer and is very resolved. Very happy with the car. Am also told the ED30 engine or turbo at least is based on the new S3 turbo, which allows you to uprate to 300+ with ease.... something i dont feel the need to do in all honesty - 230-240 is fine for me and the car makes brisk progress as is...

Im thinking about buying an edition 30 after the summer i think.Going to organise a test drive. Apparently 300bhp means 0-100 in 11.5 secs..i would love to see people faces when a golf leaves them standing in cars which are supposed tobe much faster lol..

you wont regret it. At first (while running in the car) i thought it was a bit soft and too grown up, but its more of a q car and can really be driven. Its very very sorted. DSG is great also.

My Brother had a mk5 DSG with a 275bhp chip IIRC.

He says it's fine. Same driveability as before, just the scenery goes a bit faster!

To be honest i test drove the standard GTI when it first came out and was very impressed with it after getting out of a Porsche and driving it the car still felt really good in all departments.

the edition 30 is one step up from the standard gti. Much much closer to the r32 in terms of performance, with a lighter front end, so more nimble handling.

Its great.
