Hi there, I have popped over from the TVR forum as I have a problem with my good lady wifes 52 plate Golf GTI turbo and wondered if anyone could shed some light on it.

The problem occurs only when accelerating (and only rarely) , will not continue up the rev range ie no power and whitish smoke from the exhaust. After you let off the accelerator thinking 'oh my god its blown up' it seems back to normal, no more smoke drives fine.

Any ideas????

If this happens during acceleration its under pressure, therefore it could be piston rings or turbo seals on their way out. Might be a problem with the EGR

Exhaust Gas Recirculation system, basically it recircs un-burnt gases from the crankcase to the inlet manifold and burns them, this helps get the emissions down on the engines. Maybe some oil is getting through that way.
