chipped air flow meters?

AVOID EBAY CHIPPED FILTERS. use your original airbox and AFM with a decent panel filter (K&N), full exhaust, 421 manifold, stick a nice cam in it and it should shift. My mate did a bit on his 8v and it eats my 16v.
Go further.........get your engine profesionally set up cos its bound to not be running right. Mobile tuner will set up fueling, timig, pressures to optimum level for your new kit. Then get a rolling road print out to prove your new BHP,. Sell the engine and stick a 2l 16v in out of a seat (ABF engine code) Go to breakers and get cams from a 1.8l 16v (KR engine code) and stick em in. Make sure yuor running the 50mm inlet manifold for top end power. and get this set up correctly. You then have a nice cheap motor (£600 is on mods) that will play with vr6's all day long. Well, up to your top end when a vr will keep going faster.

no mate seriously they are crap and just mess with a balance of fuel, air, pressures and an array of sensors that VW spent £1000s getting right. Dont mess with it with something from a company that spent maybe 20 sheets on R&D. Also steer clear of "performance resistors" and electric superchargers. All a waste of cash. Best thing you can do if your on a budget is try sites like www.edition38.com , www.mateymatey.com to get tips from other dubbers.
My favorite is www.demonvw.co.uk/forum the guys on their mostly build to a budget and they are a fiendly lot. lots of mk2 8v's too.

Hi Craig, I cant view ebay here but is the chip you linked to a Blitz one which is a replacement ECU? Or is it an airbox resistor?
The airbox resistor is a pile of poop, all it does is tells the ecu that more air is flowing into the engine, which makes the ECU pump more fuel in, with little results.
The Blitz chip is normally about £4.99 from ebay and is a replacement for the standard ECU, and it does actually work - it is a copy of a much more expensive chip. It wont give you a massive gain but it will allow the engine to rev freer and improve the throttle response. The 8v digifant engine suffers from something known as 'digi lag' which basically slows throttle response, the Blitz Chip will help this. Plus its dead easy to fit and at the end of the day is only £4.99!
My mate is running a 8v in the new Gti Race series and has fitted a k &n panel filter, Blitz chip and a Newman cam (the only cam allowed for the championships other than standard) and the car made 127bhp on Stealths rollers yesterday.
