180bhp to 225bhp?

Can anyone on hear tell me what the differances are between these 2 vag engines as seem to get differant answers from everyone i ask.

ie is it just mapping and turbo or are there internal differances ?
any help appriciated.

Not sure how true this is but I heard it has another blade on the turbo impeller, bigger inter cooler, different map on the ECU and different internals.

However, all of the above may be complete tosh!.

Your correct. Its basically an uprated turbo and a different more powerful ECU

Blimey, first time for everything!

One of my mates had an A3 1.8T and had the uprated turbo, remap, forged dump valve, larger intercooler, induction kit and a miltek exhaust system and it motored. He had a tussle with one of the 225bhp TT's the other week and it was pretty close although the TT just pipped him. He's since stripped all the parts off it, returned it to standard to sell it and sold all the parts on Ebay...GAH!. I've just got a 2001 1.8T A3 which is crying out for the parts.

Ok thanks a friend of mine has a vrs skoda and we just going down the rd of upping the power its been remapped and has an inducton kit so was just looking for what we can use from the 225 cars to up the power a bit more.

Actually, VAG cars fitted with the 225 engine have the following extras/differences over the 150/180 version:

Larger turbo
Second intercooler
Forged rods
Different pistons
Strengethened block
Different exhaust system
ECU

Think that's it although there may be others.
