Help!

One of the rear brake lights has gone on my Audi. I did try looking into the boot for some clues as how to remove the cluster- But I'm stumped!

Manual says "Take it to the dealer" which I will not be doing.

Have searched threads and found how to do an A3, but procedure doesn't seem to be applicable for mine.

Ta!

This involves opening the boot, looking for two round shaped carpet "plugs" at the right and left edges of the boot aperture, remove these carpet "plugs" and behind them you'll find a torque-socket securing the light cluster to the car body. Unbolting the whole lamp unit from the car from the inside (this is why there are no screw holes exposed on the outside) allows you access to the bulbs.

Just make sure you align the unit with the body properly when you re-install - you might want to take the opportunity to clean the joint between the two of years of dirt bild up before you do - and then do the reverse of the above to re-secure!

On mine the securing screws are not torx or "torque sockets" but normal phillips/pozi type screws, one thing is make sure you use a well magnetised screw driver to take them out because if/when you drop one they go down into the never never and are a bugger to retrieve. Oh yes and it is deffinately only the one fixing as described behind the plastic bung, don't be mislead as I was to waste hours looking for some more because the light cluster clips in to plastic fixing and needs a good solid tug or palm of hand whack to get it out, also remove a water seal around the top of the fitting first (this pulls out)

When I lost a rear light, I went to the dealer and asked to buy a bulb and also if they could tell me how to replace it, to be told they could sell me the bulb, or do the job, but couldnt tell me how to do it.
