Thinking of buying a 2nd hand 06 RS4 - quick questions...
Discussion
Hi guys
I've recently sold my car and on the market for a "new" one. After thinking for some weeks I wanted a TVR Sagaris, I have gone off the idea, on practial reasons!!!
Been looking at the 2006 model RS4's - they look fantastic!!! Quick questions:
1. What should I pay for a private sale with one about 15k miles?
2. What are the things I need to look out for?
3. What is it likely to loose/depreciate in 2 years?
Thanks alot. Not sure if I am wise at all, but ye only live once!!!
Cheers

I went for a brand new 2007 Saloon in Sprint Blue & i'm loving it. That's coming from an Ubber modified RS6 & an E60 M5.
No real known issues with the car, so just check for the obvious signs of wear/tear & any smoking. The car may need a couple of updates if the owner's not had them done, such as the Sat-Nav & an ECU update to remove some light vibrations on cold starts. Check out RS246.com for a wealth of RS4 info.
Auto Express reckons the car will retain 58% of it's value over 3 years, but i'd say 50% is more realistic, so a 3yr old example (saloon) should cost between £25-30K.
As for current value on a 2006 car with 15K miles, you don't say if it's a saloon, Avant or cab or how late a 2006 car it is. Assuming it's 12mths old & a saloon i'd suggest around £44K for a tidy example depending on the options it has. Of course an Avant or Cab will cost more.

If i lived in Dubai of California then the M5 would get my vote, but in the UK the RS4 just wins as it takes our crap roads & weather in it's stride, where the M5 often struggled. Also see the reports on the New M3 & the few head to heads with RS4's, the RS4 keeps pipping even the new M3 overall.
Hi,
I was about to post similar questions then read this thread
I'm looking at buying a late 06 RS4 Avant for around 45k. It would be my only car and my wife would sometimes drive it alone with our baby in the back and my worry is that the RS4 is a bit of a car-jacking target due to it being quite rare, is this a stupid thing to worry about? Also, would it be easy for the wife to drive sensibly? She doesn't like driving fast and coped very well with my 911.
Cheers

Got an 06 RS4 with 16k on the clock from a main dealer for 44k. Came with 4 new tyres and a full service (I requested these as part of the deal). Early forties for a motor with all the extras needed, like sat nav and sound system, is about right. I would reckon you could get one for close to 40 from a private deal.
As for car jacking, there are so many potential targets that I don't see why it would get picked on. Also, although a great car, it is not exotic so would not be a good target for pinching and taking abroad.
As for the motor, having come froma 996 Turbo, I find this a great car and really enjoyable to have.
