RS4 EGT Sensor gone....

....just received the dreaded EGT sensor failure yesterday (Bank1 drivers side..)
Anyway, AmDTechnik/Big Boyz T*ys in Thurrock have advised that in order to replace the EGT sensor they need to take the whole engine out I THOUGHT THE DRIVERS SIDE WAS THE EASIER OF THE 2 ??? and price will be circa $500 before the actual replacement part..
Main Stealers have quoted $460 all in and again have said they need to car for the whole day...
Having seen MRC Tuning replace the EGT on ther passenger side in circa 30mins I am very suspicious about what I have been told today.
Anyway, looking more positively forward, does anyone want to help me out and show a complete newbie how to replace the EGT ? I am willing to travel as necessary across home counties and can suppy the part courteousy of VAGPARTS.COM(and some beer money ! ).
