Changed the battery over the weekend so the head unit has gone into safe mode. I have the code but not the details on how to enter it.

Would someone with an Audi Concert manual be so kind as to relay any information they have on how to do this.

Called up Aston Green who referred me to Audi UK only to speak with some tyke who kept cutting me off when she got a text from her significant other.

For Audi Concert 2 headunits

1 Turn on radio. The radio display shows "SAFE".

2 Press the SCAN and RDS buttons simultaneously and hold until "1000" shows on the display. Release the buttons. Do NOT press these buttons again, otherwise the radio will consider "1000" to be the code.

3 Use Preset buttons 1 ... 4 to enter the four-digit code number from your radio card. Preset button 1 corresponds to the first digit, Preset button 2 corresponds to the second digit, etc. Each press of the button increments the number by 1.

4 Once the code shown on the display is correct, press the SCAN and RDS buttons simultaneously and hold until the word "SAFE" appears in the display, then release the buttons.

5 The radio should unlock and be usable shortly afterwards.

6 If an incorrect code is entered, the word "SAFE" appears, first flashing and then continuously. You can repeat the above steps to unlock the radio once more, the number of attempts will be shown in the display. If an incorrect code is entered again, you radio will be locked for about one hour. After one hour - the radio must stay on and the key must remain in the ignition lock - if the display goes out, the you can repeat the above procedure to unlock again. The cycle - two attempts, one hour lock-up - still applies.

If its the old concert with the knob in the middle

1 Turn on radio. The radio display shows "SAFE".

2 Press the FM2 and RDS buttons simultaneously and hold until "1000" shows on the display. Release the buttons. Do NOT press these buttons again, otherwise the radio will consider "1000" to be the code.

Guys,

Tried both ways mentioned above and no joy. Held the buttons down for up to 10s at a time and not a sodding sausage.

Here's a pic of the head unit if it helps anyone to provide a resolution

No joy again. BOLLEAUX. At least M25 was clear last night and I had the V8 noise to keep me company.

Any further suggestions?

Hi there Bagman !

Ive got two different Audi stereos, on one of them its TP and RDS you have to press at the same time, on the other its FM2 and RDS..
Looks like you have to try them all..
I dont think you can do anything wrong while trying to find the right buttons tho !
Good Luck !
Personally Im looking for the code to a concert I bought at a scrapyard for my g/f, so far no luck ...

Damn it!
Just read this and I could have given you that answer.
Suppose there's no Stella for me frown

Anyway, pleased you've got it working Bagman without having to pay a stealership

I did call in at a stealership who couldn't work it out between them, they reiterated Dennis's advice about trying to leave the key in the ignition lock for an hour which I did at my parents' house rather than in the south east. Got a bit tipsy on Thursday and Friday night so I'd left my car at the station, proceeded to try the scandinavian technique and lo and behold, the S8 now has several pleasurable sound tracks.

Now where's that Destiny's Child CD..........
