Golf Passenger window fallen
Discussion
Hi
On my way down from Glasgow to York for the weekend yesterday, the girlfriend went to put the window down in my 98 Golf and it fell down. Fortunately the glass never smashed and I managed to drag the window back up and secure it using tape.
Has anyone any idea what has happened? Is it a simple case of stripping down and placing back on runners or has something broken?
Can anyone recommend anywhere in Glasgow or edinburgh (i work there) that might be able to sort it? How much is it likely to cost?
Cheers
Aidan

This is one of the most common faults on MKIV Golfs, and if it happened under warranty the dealer replaced the plastic clips holding the window with metal ones.
I've never changed them myself, but understand its not too difficult as long as you don't mind stripping back the door a bit. I think the part is only about £10-£15 from a main stealer.

Here's a guide for upgrading the plastic clips to better ones. The guide is for a B5 Passat but should hopefully still be relevant.
