A6 MPG

Currently working out the pros and cons of two models of MK2 A6. It's a choice of the 2.8 quattro or 2.5 tdi quattro. Less MPG from the 2.8, but more expensive to buy a 2.5 tdi. So i'm after some real world MPG figures from you guys who've got one or t'other. Needs to be getting on for 30mpg to be cheaper to run than the range rover, 2.5 is ok for that, but not sure on the 2.8.

I'm getting 27.8mpg from a 4.2,
Thirty odd miles a day mixed roads.
Beating my last car a 4.6 HSE on LPG pound for pound.

Ive had my 2.8 A6 quattro 2 years & 100k miles now and always averaged 24-25mpg doing 90% motorway and A road driving. It will do 30mpg with a light throttle but probably wont average this. I always use optimax, to fill it from empty is around £72 and I get 380-400 miles to a tank. Hope this helps!!

Crikey, that's barely better than my old 12v 2.8 100. TDi looking favourite at the moment.
