Another Mental MTM

RTT an R8 beater?

Is that an R8?! No, no it isn't

A while back we showed you what MTM had been doing to an old shape TT (in case you didn’t see the story, click here).

Today, we’re pleased to show you that they’re not one trick ponies – they’ve made an R8 beater out of the current TT.

The MTM RTT will do 0-60 in a claimed 4.1 seconds and go on to a limited (!) top speed of 175mph thanks to a supercharger bolted on to the 3.2 V6 engine.

It might be quicker than an R8, but it ain't as pretty

The added blower has have brought the power output up to 415bhp and the torque to an engine twisting 368lb ft.

But they didn’t stop at the engine because they’ll also bolt on an R8 inspired body kit for a sniff under £1400.

Bizarrely they’ve left the suspension as standard but if you give them a little more than the £49600 asking price they’ll sort it out for you, too.

Can't believe they leave the suspension standard and expect it to be a R8 beater, largely regarded as the most dynamic car ever in it's class.

How do they expect Hairdressers to afford this?

Seriously, 50 large for a bolt on Supercharger and a body kit (which is not pretty) is alittle to much. That's Boxter S money and i would rather have that. The new TT has reasonably nice lines that should not be spoiled. No suspension work either?

Ditch the bodykit and fettle with the suspension...job done.

Wouldn't buy one, the TT never appealed to me.

I think £50,000+ could be better spent elsewhere (check out the classifieds and I would be amazed if you can't find something of interest!!)... AND you are never going to get your money back on this when you come to sell, after you realise how ugly it really is.

Oh well, someone was always going to have a go...

Whyyyyyyyy!

Basically the centrifugal charger fitted to any of the 3.2's for the last four years, + some grim bodykit.

That bodykit ranks alongside those MR2s you see that are made to look like Ferrari 355s!

Totally Agree.
Why anybody would buy that is beyond me.

So a tuning firm has upped the power and added a 'kit. Why do these things keep making the front page again? Doesn't seem to be 'News'.

This car looks a stack better in Evo this month. And £50K for 4.1 secs to 60 and 175 isn't THAT much! The problem is though, as it is with any modified car, that it is still a £24K car underneath and that is also what most people will see; blokes may spend £50K on their Escorts, but they are still Escorts (see turd polishing in the dictionary).

It's a press release, which is what the majority of news stories are in any automotive publication.

It is 'news' in exactly the same way as the stories about the new Aston are. They're lightly subbed press releases.

Despite an under-bonnet shot in his story with the word 'Turbo' written in three-inch high letters on the engine cover, one journalist got it very wrong by stating that the MTM TTR is supercharged when it fact it has a Garrett T3 under the bonnet.

Now everyone thinks the car is supercharged. Ah, the power of the press....!

It'll look better when the wealthy 17 year old (surely the only target market that would consider it) crashes it.
